“We are all very excited to have Rachel join us at Texas A&M. She is an incredible young lady and is going to have a wonderful impact on our team’s success. Many people have rated her as the top defender in the state and the southern United States, and as one of the very best defenders in the nation in her age group. She is fast, fearless, smart, dominant in air battles and skillful. She is a great addition to our team.

“Rachel comes to us from the Lonestars Soccer Club in Austin, Texas, where she was coached by JD Cochran. We have several great players from that club in our team right now (Rachael Balaguer, Chelsea Jones and Nora Skelton) and have always been impressed with the high level of soccer-athletes that have matriculated through the Lonestars program. While serving as a captain for several seasons, Rachel has a great history of being an outstanding leader and teammate.

“We feel especially blessed to have Rachel at A&M a semester early. She is already working out with the team and (as we anticipated) has fit into our soccer family environment with ease. She has looked great in the weight room, in speed-development training, and during our on-field sessions. Being here for our entire non-traditional season this spring will provide great developmental opportunities for Rachel, as well as some vital college experience prior to the start of her actual freshman season this fall. By that time I know that she will be fully integrated into our program.”

“Sara is an outstanding student-athlete who will be able to immediately compete for playing time in several positions on the field for the Aggies in 2010. She is a natural athlete, who is fast, agile and skillful, and who is also a very strong student, accustomed to earning straight A’s in challenging courses.

“Sara has a history of success while competing as a wide player for her high school, ODP, and club teams. She has done well as a defender at The Woodlands High School and as a member of the South Texas Olympic Development team. Meanwhile, she’s been a good attacking option as a midfielder or wide forward with Pat O’Toole’s Challenge ’92 club team.

“She joins a long list of other Aggie players who’ve been developed in Pat O’Toole’s Challenge Soccer Club, including current A&M players Whitney Hooper, Nicole Ketchum, Amber and Lyndsey Gnatzig, Katie Hamilton, Kat Armstrong, and Megan Majewski.

“Having great speed and experience in a variety of positions makes her a very valuable player for us at A&M. I am confident that she’ll do very well in our competitive team environment, and I know that she will fit perfectly with the Aggie community. She comes from a wonderful Aggie family – her dad is an A&M grad, and her brother and sister are already here on campus as students. Plus, her uncle is legendary Aggie football coach R.C. Slocum, so she’s a natural fit in Aggieland.”

His first step is pretty explosive and his field vision is excellent.”

What They’re Saying

Coach Demeritt on Robinson:
“First of all, Ivan is a good young man. He’s the type of kid you want in your program. He brings some intangibles to the table that some people don’t possess. When you’re 6-4, 252-pounds and can run like he can, you just don’t find that in many defensive linemen. Ivan really uses his hands well, and he runs extremely well. You’re talking about kid who runs a high 4.7 forty-yard dash. At 252 pounds, that’s pretty impressive. He was the first leg on the 4 x 100 relay for us, and that should tell you a little bit about how well he can move.”

What They’re Saying

Coach Westerberg on Cedric Ogbuehi…
“When he was a sophomore, he was a backup defensive lineman. We decided we needed help on the offensive line and, as athletic as he is, we needed to get him on the field. He took over and just ran with the opportunity. He’s very athletic, with long arms. He’s a great pass protector and just a tremendous blocker overall.”

“I think there’s nothing but upside for Cedric. He’s a great, hardworking kid, and I know he’ll come in to A &M and do tremendous things. He has a frame that can put on a lot more weight and, with his arm reach, I think you’ll see tremendous things out of him.”

“His biggest asset is his athleticism. The key for Cedric is he can really run for a big kid. There are some highlights you can see where he really gets out and runs full speed. He can flat go for a big kid.”

What They’re Saying

    Coach Hardin on Damontre Moore:
“He’s definitely a force out on the field. He’s 6-6 and really runs well. When he gets to the football, he’s got a pretty good punch to him. He did a great job as a defensive end for us, and also on special teams. He was great on punt and kickoff coverage. I think he’s going to help the Aggies.”

Damontre Moore:
“For me, A&M was like a home away from home. Some coaches at other schools just talk about themselves and try to sell you on everything. But with A&M they kept it real with me and treated me like I was more than just a prospect. They treated me like a human being and took time to get to know me. It was just really like a home environment and I knew it was right for me.”

What They’re Saying

  Coach Crivellari on Jake Matthews:
“I think he uses his hands, and feet really well. Just his knowledge of what is going on the field is just incredible. He sees things and picks it up quickly and reacts. The technique that he uses is some of the best I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach.”

On how Matthew’s “football family” and his rapid development at the tackle position…
“There’s a lot of good gene’s there with Jake’s family history. What makes Jake unique is that he’s only played on the offensive line for three years. We converted him to the o-line his sophomore year. He played quarterback his freshman year, so that speaks about the type of athleticism he has. He just started growing and became one of our biggest kids in the program. We saw that he was going to end up playing offensive line after that. We made the move and he picked it up quickly. For him to be as technically sound and be able to play the position the way he does after only playing there for three years is just incredible. It’s a credit to him and his understanding of the game.”

Notable

• His brother, Kevin, was a two-year starter at offensive center for the Aggies from 2008-09.
• His father, Bruce, was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2007 after an illustrious 19-year career with the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans.
