The Spring semester continues to roll right along for us in Aggieland. We played our 1st day of 11v11 games on march 6th under beautiful skies and warm weather, shutting out Utah and North Texas, and now are giving our players a mini-vacation from soccer activities during Texas A&M’s Spring Break. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of activities and events going on in the lives of our current and former players…
This Saturday (March 6th) will be our 2nd of 5 gamedays in our spring non-traditional season. And, it will be the first run at full sided 11v11 games; the 1st gameday was our 7v7 Tournament, where we won all four of our 50 minute matches.
Like most Saturdays in the spring, there will be lots of sports activities occurring on the Texas A&M campus, so I hope you can be here to take part in as much as possible! Here’s
Last Saturday (Feb 20th) was a very busy, but productive day for Texas A&M soccer players and coaches. We hosted our annual 7v7 Tournament during daylight hours, then got cleaned up and hosted our annual Awards Banquet that night at the Zone Club in Kyle Field. In this week’s blog I’ll review both of those events, plus give you some updates on future Big 12 soccer schedules, recruiting events, and an update on our great summer camp program.
This weekend, there are lots of events happening on the Texas A&M campus, but I’m especially excited about the two big soccer events which involve our current and former players on Saturday. In this week’s journal I will comment on our 7v7 Tournament, our 17th Annual Awards banquet, another Aggie being called up to the U23 National Team, as well as the adventure of a couple former players in South America.
Last Friday we began our 20 hour training week as part of our non-traditional season. This is one of the best times of the year to be a college soccer coach, because we get the opportunity to concentrate on developing our players and at a tempo which isn’t as crazy as our traditional fall season, when our [...]
It’s the first week in February! So for college athletic departments all around the nation, it’s time to announce and celebrate the recruiting and signing of this year’s high school seniors to their university. National Signing Day is February 3rd for Football, Soccer, Track & Field here at A&M. Obviously, most of the buzz and excitement revolves around the team which averages more than 70,000 fans per home game, but it’s also a big day for us and our good friends at the Anderson Track complex. In this week’s journal I’ll talk a little bit about national signing day, but also will hit on some other soccer issues happening for our kids and program, plus some national movements in Women’s Pro Soccer, the NCAA and the Big 12.
In this week’s Coach’s Journal I’m commenting on the start of the 2010 spring semester, which means it’s the start of our non-traditional soccer season at Texas A&M. I also talk about some new Big 12 rules, additionas to our 2010 camp line-up, an addition to our spring game schedule, our newest team captain, and much more!
Texas A&M students return to classes this week following a 5-week long winter holiday. In this week’s journal I talk a little bit about the start of the new semester, our spring soccer season, our newest addition to the team, and I’ve included a little video about our great Texas A&M Soccer Camp. I hope you’ll check it all out!
I hope your holidays were wonderful and that your 2010 has started well.
Here at A&M, the university has re-opened for business, but our students remain on vacation until the 19th of January! That equals a 5 week vacation from classes for our lucky students. I know that our players have been having fun in many different locations around the world and have enjoyed being back with their families and old friends during the holiday. But, we miss them and I wouldn’t mind getting them back in town so we can get started with our exciting 2010 soccer plans!
Texas A&M and the City of College Station hosted the 2009 NCAA Women’s College Cup on the weekend of December 4-6 as thousands of soccer fans and youth players flooded into the Brazos Valley. Meanwhile, Emily Peterson was named the winner of the Lowes Senior CLASS Award on a fun, yet chilly weekend in Aggieland
